About Us
My name is Corbin Piccione. I’m a Licensed Neuromuscular Therapist (LNMT)
My first experience with massage therapy came in 2013 while working as a chef in New York. I injured myself in the kitchen, and found myself in pain. A lot of it.
Desperate for relief, I began researching things that could help. I tried a few things that didn’t work, before deciding–with some skepticism–to give massage a try. My first treatment felt good, but didn’t provide long-term relief. I decided to try a different therapist, and stumbled into someone who really knew what they were doing. I couldn’t believe how much my condition had improved after just a few treatments. My pain was gone, and stayed gone. I was hooked.
I was drawn to the kitchen for the joy of creating something unique, and seeing the look on people’s faces as they got to experience it, but that didn’t satisfy me any longer–I wanted to do something that impacted people’s lives in an even bigger way. I stayed working as a chef for a time, but my heart wasn’t in it anymore. I decided to move back to the Carolinas in October 2014 and enrolled in the Western North Carolina School of Muscular Therapy, earning my license in October 2015.
I am not your typical massage therapist. Neuromuscular Therapy is about diagnosing an issue and finding a solution. I practice Western Theory, which means treatments are based on scientific evidence and medical research–no woo-woo cure-alls here–and I uphold the standards of a medical practitioner. I may refer you to other Medical/Healthcare practitioners, as needed.
What is Neuromuscular Therapy?
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a modern, evidence-based system of bodywork therapy. The nervous system controls everything in the body, including muscle tension and pain. Using neuromuscular principles we can understand what’s causing your pain and how to treat it. It is a natural method of healthcare that focuses on treating the causes of physical problems rather than covering up the symptoms with drugs.
